First Appearance: From SanctuCare to Carnarvon

The Grey Van first appears outside the Meeting House, the Quaker-affiliated building that houses the SanctuCare refugee organization. Ada, the Mayday operative who has taken charge of Daisy, parks the van at the back of the building, telling Daisy, "That's our next ride" . This moment is the first step in Daisy's physical and psychological removal from her known world. The van is a practical tool—Ada uses it to drive through a maze of side streets, paying close attention to traffic behind them, demonstrating the constant vigilance required by those in the resistance. The journey ends at Carnarvon, a large, decaying brownstone mansion in Parkdale that serves as a Mayday safe house. Second Appearance: The Escape from Carnarvon

The Grey Van reappears when the safe house at Carnarvon is compromised. After George, a street person and Mayday informant, reports that Neil and Melanie were likely killed by Gilead agents before the car bomb, Ada and Elijah decide to move Daisy immediately. The van is gone, replaced by a different vehicle—a delivery van with the logo "SPEEDY DRAIN SNAKING" and a picture of a cute snake coming out of a drain . This change of vehicle is a standard security measure, a way to avoid being tracked. The new van is not just a means of escape; it is a hiding place. Daisy and Ada climb into the back, which is dark and stuffy, containing plumbing tools and a mattress.
